April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th of July. She began lessons on piano and guitar at seven years old. She was interested in songwriting was awakened. April Lockhart penned her first track, Different at the age 12 years old. When April was 14 years old, she devoted the majority of her time creating song ideas as well as perfecting the song. She started writing songs along with her dad at home in NY and LA shortly after. April started to incorporate additional relevant subjects into the Take my Hand song for some close friends, like peer pressure disabilities and teen suicide. Lockhart works in partnerships at famous cosmetics brand Ilia and is also a lifestyle influencer with her own growing following. She has a disability that is a component of her personality, but it is not the whole of the picture. The account on Instagram of Lockhart doesn't deny her handicap. But it also doesn't emphasize it. What is the message? That we all contain multitudes of identities and we're beyond our physical bodies. Lockhart is interviewed via video in Nashville. "I do not intend to let it define my personal life. I'm not looking to be only identified as a specialist in disability. It doesn't impact my daily life. I conduct every day as normal and have found my own method of adjusting to things. But, I consider that it is a crucial component of my life. Lockhart inspires us to keep going with self-acceptance. She has had periods where she felt insecure about dressing in certain styles that exposed her arms. She is able to wear anything she wants, and she proudly shares photos of her in these outfits. She says that self-love is a process. It's hard to say whether you'll get to the end. The same is true for everybody, no matter what their levels of anxiety. I think it's vital to surround yourself people who can discern and understand your heart.
